» For Vista, WGA gets tougher Ed Bott’s Microsoft Report ZDNet.com: "For Vista, WGA gets tougher Posted by Ed Bott @ 7:49 am

Digg This!
For Windows Vista, Microsoft is rolling out a new version of its Windows Genuine Advantage anti-piracy program, complete with a new name: the Windows Software Protection Platform. This time, they mean business.
Technically, it's not a kill switch, but it's arguably a near-death experience for your PC.Let's call it WGA Plus, shall we? The Plus means this software, which is baked into Windows Vista, is even more aggressive about detecting and blocking what it considers software that is running with unauthorized license keys or has been tampered with. And woe be unto you if you get snagged in the WGA - sorry, SPP dragnet while running Vista. If that happens on a premium version of Windows Vista, you'll first lose access to key features, including the Aero interface, ReadyBoost performance enhancements, and Windows Defender antispyware detection. Eventually, if you don't deal with the problem, the measures get more severe and you're kicked into 'reduced functionality mode':"

Nothing tells you more about Hollywood than what it chooses to honor. Nominated for best foreign-language film is 'Paradise Now,' a sympathetic portrayal of two suicide bombers. Nominated for best picture is 'Munich,' a sympathetic portrayal of yesterday's fashion in barbarism: homicide terrorism.

But until you see 'Syriana,' nominated for best screenplay (and George Clooney, for best supporting actor) you have no idea how self-flagellation and self-loathing pass for complexity and moral seriousness in Hollywood."

When iRobot Corp. introduced the Roomba in 2002, the Burlington company was hailed for making available the first home robot.

But for some, the disc-shaped machine that zips across floors sucking up dirt and dust is more than an electronic housekeeper: It's a science project on wheels, a surrogate pet, even a fashion statement."

Wired News:: "Several months later, Truste revoked Gratis' seal of approval, then quickly reinstated it, then pulled it again, but declined to state publicly its reasons.

In the wake of this week's settlement, Truste's spokeswoman did not return repeated phone calls, and executive director Fran Maier did not respond to e-mailed questions about why Truste never discovered the alleged sale or informed the public that Gratis was not adhering to its privacy policy.

Truste has long been criticized as ineffective and too eager to make apologies for companies that violate the spirit of their privacy promises."

Al desnudo, la intriga contra Lydia Cacho: "Foto Foto Foto

Kamel Nacif, Lydia Cacho y Jean Succar Kuri Fotos La Jornada, Guillermo Sologuren y PGR

Newspaperindex - the blog | Newspapers of the world, media, free speech and update on the newspaper catalogue Newspaper Index » UN to Investigate Jyllands-Posten ‘Racism’: "UN to Investigate Jyllands-Posten ‘Racism’
Saturday December 10th 2005, 10:43 pm
Filed under: Newspapers, Global news, Ethics, Journalism, Online news

Responding to a complaint by the Organization of Islamic Conferences (OIC) over twelve caricatures of the prophet Muhammad published in the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten last September, Louise Arbour - United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights - has appointed two UN experts on racism to carry out a detailed investigation into what Arbour characterizes as a “disrespect for belief.”

Why did Jyllands-Posten publish the cartoons? The Copenhagen Post explains: “Jyllands-Posten called for and printed the cartoons by various Danish illustrators, after reports that artists were refusing to illustrate works about Islam, out of fear of fundamendalist retribution. The newspaper said it printed the cartoons as a test of whether Muslim fundamentalists had begun affecting the freedom of expression in Denmark.”
In case you never saw the Muhammad drawings

These are the stupidest cartons I have ever seen

Independent Online Edition > Europe: "Anger as Paris newspaper prints cartoon of Prophet
By John Lichfield in Paris
Published: 02 February 2006

French Muslim leaders protested vehemently after the newspaper France-Soir reprinted 12 Danish cartoons of the Prophet Mohamed, one showing the Prophet with a turban shaped like a bomb.

Dalil Boubakeur, president of the French Muslim Council, described the printing of the cartoons in a country with 5,000,000 citizens of Muslim background as 'a true provocation'."

This is something that is really pissing me off as they do show that the arab world is really about hate.

Terefore I'm saying that every single person that is ofended by those cartons has a right to be offended.

However that does not give them the right to tell the rest of the world what should they do or not.

What do you make of it? what is more important the stick in the rear end of millions and millions of peop;e or the freedom of speech of the rest of the world.?
